Gecko GloWhips

Today we
reviewed the “Glow Whip” as some of you may have seen
in all the magazine ads.
Basically the Glow Whip is an 8’ flag which is
lighted so that you can continue riding long after the sun
has set. Installation
is simple. The
Glow Whip simply bolts to your grab bar just like any
other dune flag and has one simple wire to attach to any
available power supply (usually the rear tail light).
NOTE: you may need a voltmeter or fluke meter so
that you can find a suitable power supply to tap into.
The whip
comes in two pieces, which makes it much easier for
transporting your ATV and won’t require you to detach
the power lead all the time.
I’m
sure you’re wondering what the cable is for?
Well since this flag isn’t made of fiberglass
like most other flags it can’t take the same abuse. So if you’re riding style is aggressive the manufacturer
suggests you anchor the whip to the end of your grab bar. The other end is attached to the top of the whip.
This would ensure the whip isn’t thrashed around
beyond it’s flex point.
PROS:
-Increases
your riding time. Especially for your fellows on the West Coast that can’t
take the summer heat during the day.
CONS:
-Should
have included terminal ends for the wire inside the whip.
I can’t see how by just twisting the wire
together that it would hold up that long.
-May not
be tall enough for certain riding areas.
I know in Michigan, Silver Lake requires a 10’
flag.
If your
looking for a Glow Whip they’ll run you $119.95
