The
CORR Lucas Oil Series will rock Southern California
in 2005
Indianapolis, Ind. (May
18, 2005)-For the first time in series history,
Championship Off Road Racing and the CORR Lucas
Oil Series will compete in two consecutive weekends,
giving fans in Southern California an opportunity
to see the most intense off road racing in the
world. Reserved seating for 20,000, Diamond Vision
TV and hospitality suites are but a few of the
amenities being provided for the race fans.
The
2005 Pro Series Championships will take place
September 24-25, which will be the final two rounds
of the championship season (Rounds 13 & 14).
The track will be built on the Otay Ranch in Chula
Vista, Calif., 20 minutes south of downtown San
Diego. On October 1-2, a first of its kind non-points
race will bring the best drivers from CORR. Desert
racing trucks and buggies will also be invited
to compete in CORR's inaugural Off-Road Championship
Cup Race.
Four
cup races will highlight the Oct. 1-2 event, with
each event offering more than $130,000 in prize
money. Qualifying and the first race for the four
divisions will begin on Saturday, October 1, and
concluding on Sunday, October 2. An accumulation
of points from the two rounds of racing will determine
the winner of each of the four divisions.
First place finishes based on the division competing
will be $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, and $10,000.
A detailed payout for the CORR Off-Road Championship
Cup Race will be provided at a later date.
After
consulting the CORR advisory board, the teams
competing in the September 24-25 CORR Pro Series
championships (Pro-4, Pro-2, Pro-Lite) will be
given tow money for the trip to California. $1,000
will be given for all Pro Series drivers traveling
over 1000 miles (one way), and $500 for Sportsman
Drivers traveling over 1000 miles (one way).
Any
Sportsman 2 driver who competes either weekend
in the Pro-2 division will not jeopardize their
Rookie Status in the Pro Series.
All
teams with motor homes and trailers are welcome
to stay at the Otay Ranch for no charge after
the September 24-25 event to prepare for the October
1-2 event. In fact, teams will not be required
to pay for parking for either weekend.
We
are already receiving requests for display and
vendor space from many Southern California Off-Road
related businesses who are elated that Championship
Off Road Racing is finally coming to the west.
We expect an unbelievable Manufacturers Midway
at the event.
The
impact of CORR in Southern California is remarkable
in terms of exposure for the drivers and sponsors,
and CORR wants to make sure all drivers have the
opportunity to compete.
