NHRA
offers special programs for member tracks
In
2003, the NHRA once again is offering its Member
Tracks a wide variety of special programs for
their racers, including the popular National
DRAGSTER Challenge, King of the Track, Jr. Drag
Racing League Challenge, and the new Street
Legal program.
Each
track can obtain a special kit that includes all
the makings of a major-league drag racing event,
including trophies, hats, banners, P.A. spots,
press kits, and more. These program packages are
supplied by NHRA free of charge to all NHRA
Member Tracks.
Based
on the overwhelming success of last year's
National DRAGSTER Challenge, NHRA once again is
offering all member tracks an opportunity to
participate in the program in 2003.
The
National DRAGSTER Challenge and King of the
Track races can enhance a track's existing
events or could be used to create an entirely
new race. On the line for winning racers are
special NHRA "Wally" trophies and lots
more.
The
NHRA King of the Track Championship bonus
program is a one-time special event held at
members tracks in conjunction with one of their
weekly racing events or as a newly created
event. The King of the Track Championship bonus
program gives NHRA Member Tracks something
special to reward their weekly racers who
support the track week in and week out.
The
King of the Track program is a run-off between
category winners. The category winners can
either be from that day's racing activity or
from a previously determined race date. The
run-off can be between any number of categories
with four (4) being the optimum creating two
semi-finals and a final for the run off.
Motorcycles can be included in this program but
do not have to be. It's up to each individual
track.
The
King of the Track winner will receive an NHRA
"Wally," custom leather jacket, King
of the Track "Champion" hat, photo in
National DRAGSTER's results section (if provided
by track with event story).
Last
year the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League celebrated
its 10th Anniversary. Based on the overwhelming
success of last year's "10th Anniversary in
a Box" promotion, NHRA is offering all
member tracks an opportunity to participate in a
similar program in 2003 geared specifically
toward Jr. Drag Racers. Tracks that elect to
host an NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge
event will be provided with a kit containing a
variety of promotional materials.
An
NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Challenge race can
enhance a track's existing Jr. events or could
be used to create an entirely new Jr. race. The
focus of the program is to provide each member
track with the tools to create a unique event
for its racers. Every member track is encouraged
to participate.
Each
member track that elects to host an NHRA Jr.
Drag Racing League Challenge event will be
required to sign up for the promotion and
designate the specific event date. Only one
event per facility.
The
NHRA Street Legal program was created with the
intention of helping NHRA Member Tracks
eradicate illegal street racing in their local
community. This kit will assist each track in
accomplishing this goal by providing promotional
material and marketing tools to help develop
awareness of each track's Street Legal program.
Supplies
provided by this program were designed to
encourage street racers to compete in the safe,
legal, and controlled environment that NHRA
Member Tracks provide. Material is also provided
in this program to garner the support of local
media, community leaders, and public officials.
Unlike
2002's programs such as the National DRAGSTER
challenge, which provided materials for a
one-time event, this program and its supplies
are intended to be used throughout the course of
a track's racing season.
For
more information regarding these programs or to
order additional supplies, contact the NHRA
Field Marketing department, (626) 250-2486.
Additional information regarding how to
establish a Street Legal program can be found in
the NHRA Regional Marketing & Track Programs
booklet.
