Team Kalitta looks to keep performance peaked in Seattle

Seattle, Wash., July 23, 2002 - Doug Kalitta and the Mac Tools/Kalitta Motorsports dragster team realized the potential of their hot rod last weekend in Denver.  After qualifying atop the Top Fuel field for the second time in 2002, Team Kalitta roared into eliminations with high expectations.

Unluckily, a broken blower belt quickly finished the team's chances of victory in a quarterfinal loss to Kenny Bernstein.  Kalitta and the Mac Tools team refuse to let this obstruction delay the momentum they have worked so diligently to set into motion.

"We saw exceptional consistency in the performance of our Mac Tools dragster in Denver," said co-crew chief Jim Oberhofer.  "Connie (Kalitta, crew chief) and I have been looking for performance like that all season.  Now that we know how to utilize it, we are ready to attack the rest of the schedule.  I can't wait to race in Seattle."

Kalitta said, "I am excited about getting back behind the wheel of the Mac Tools dragster.  Our team is awesome and we are now getting to see what we are capable of.  There will be a very large attendance of Mac Tools distributors and fans in Seattle cheering us on.  We want to put the Mac Tools dragster in the winner's circle for them."
