WHAT:
The fifth annual Chicagoland Dodge Dealers NHRA
Nationals, the 10th of 23 events in
the $50 million NHRA POWERade Drag Racing
Series. Professional competitors in four
categories earn points leading to 2002 NHRA
POWERade championships.
Sportsman competitors in five categories earn
points leading to 2002 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag
Racing Series championships.
WHERE:
Route 66 Raceway, Joliet, Ill. The track
is located 30 miles southwest of Chicago on
Route 53 (historic Route 66), approximately
three miles south of the I-80 in Joliet. Take
I-80 to exit #132A (Route 53 south) to the
track.
WHEN:
Thursday through Sunday, May 30-June 2.
PURSE:
Cash and contingency awards of more than $1.9
million.
SCHEDULE:
THURSDAY, May 30 -- Gates open at 8 a.m.
Sportsman qualifying and time trials, 9 a.m. to
6 p.m.
FRIDAY, May 31 --
Gates open at 7 a.m. Sportsman qualifying and
eliminations, 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
PROFESSIONAL
QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 4:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.
SATURDAY, June 1
-- Gates open at 7 a.m. Sportsman qualifying and
time trials, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m
PROFESSIONAL
QUALIFYING SESSIONS at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
SUNDAY, June 2 --
Gates open at 7 a.m. Pre-race ceremonies, 10
a.m. FINAL ELIMINATIONS begin at 11 a.m.
TELEVISION:
Saturday, June 1, ESPN2 will televise two hours
of qualifying highlights at 8:30 p.m. (ET).
Sunday, June 2 ESPN2 will televise 150 minutes
of eliminations at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
