Set to Defend Mac Tools Thunder Valley NHRA
Nationals Title
The
rites of Spring for some may mean the crack of a
bat on a fastball and for others it may be the
sweet aroma of
blooming flowers in the countryside.
In the inaugural Mac ToolsTM Thunder Valley NHRA
Nationals last year, Doug Kalitta and the Mac
Tools/Kalitta Motorsports dragster team rolled
through the Top Fuel competition to claim the
title trophy.
"Our Mac Tools dragster team is excited
about racing in Bristol," said Kalitta.
"We are the defending champions and Bristol
Dragway is a first-class facility, so Team
Kalitta is eager to battle at the Mac Tools
Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals."
The Mac Tools/Kalitta Motorsports team brings an
extra amount of confidence with them to Bristol
after grabbing the top qualifying spot at the
last NHRA event in Houston. They expect to
garner a high level of respect for the Mac Tools
dragster's performance from their competitors as
well.
"The tune-up combination on our Mac Tools
dragster in Houston supplied our team with
valuable data that has shown us that we can
compete with the two beer cars and the rest of
the Top Fuel contingent even on really hot race
tracks," said Co-Crew Chief Jim Oberhofer.
"It is time for our Mac Tools team to start
climbing up the points ladder and our race car
is certainly capable."
Kalitta said, "We want to win. Our
Mac Tools/Kalitta Motorsports team wants to win
if we are racing in the Kmart parking lot.
That is the only reason we race. We want
to win for all of the Mac Tools fans, employees
and distributors that stand and cheer for us
every time our Mac Tools dragster rolls to the
starting line."
