The King of Drag Racing unveils
King of the Hill-themed racecar
John Force Racing has unveiled a special
King of the Hill-inspired paint scheme for his title-winning Castrol GTX Ford Mustang Funny Car. Designed by Action Performance Companies Inc. for the 12-time NHRA champion, the
King of the Hill flopper is on display at the Ford Motor Company booth in the West Hall of the Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs until January 12 in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
King of the Hill co-creator and executive producer Greg Daniels and Stephen Root, the voice of Bill Dauterive and Buck Strickland, helped Force and representatives from Action Performance, Ford Motor Company, and FOX Broadcasting Co. unveil the car to the media Wednesday.
"For all the cutting-edge, next-generation vehicles there's no place else like the LA Auto Show," Force said. "There, we can show just how much muscle Ford packs into the 7,000-horsepower Castrol GTX Ford Mustang Funny Car engine. Since 1997, Ford has been an essential part of John Force Racing. I am pleased and honored that we can bring my hot rod to the LA Auto Show and highlight Ford Racing's success and also show off a creative
King of the Hill paint scheme."
Ultimately, the Castrol GTX
King of the Hill Funny Car will make its way to Texas, where Force will race on the weekend of April 10-13 during the NHRA's O'Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park.
"For years, John Force has been quite a spokesman for the NHRA, and he's always been a character," said Fred
Wagenhals, Action's chairman, president, and CEO. "Now, King of the Hill fans will get acquainted with drag racing's only 12-time champion, while car aficionados will get their up-close and personal preview of Force's
King of the Hill Mustang at the LA Auto Show."
The LA Auto Show features thousands of new car, truck, and SUV models from the most respected names in the automotive industry. It is also the yearly site of multiple new car and design debuts.
